I love food. No apologies. I’m so tired of the language that is used when people talk about food. The word sinful will never appear on this blog, at least not for describing food in any way. We are incredibly fortunate to have the bounty we have and it should be fully enjoyed. My only caveat is that I only eat good stuff. I choose organic whenever possible, local as much as I can and I try to get to know the people who sell to me. I haven’t eaten fast food in years (thank you, Eric Schlosser) except when my kids sway me into buying them some and I make them pay the Mom tax of a couple of fries from each of them.
Besides wanting an outlet to creatively express my love of food, I really want to encourage people to learn to cook organically in the truest sense of the word. By that, I mean, learn the basic science foundation of cooking and then put down the cookbooks and magazines. Look around at what you have available and use it. That is it, in a nutshell. Mmmmmm, nuts. Remember how “they” tried to make us feel guilty about eating nuts? Turns out nuts pretty damn good for you. Go have a small handful of your favorite nuts. And practice fully enjoying what you’re eating without guilt.
